Default Dervish & Necromancer

I have been playing both classes alot this past week while getting used to the game & trying to decide on a main i have atm a lvl 13 necro & lvl 14 dervish but they are both so much fun i just cant decide i have tried them both in pvp mostly random arena and i had so much fun on both of them now the only area's i cant try are the end game and so i would like advice, opinion and all that stuff on how both fare to see if it cant help me decide on which one to make a main out of as i dont like to keep switching but just cant seem to choose =/

I'd say necro, they have more uses in pvp and pve while the dervish is pretty underwhelming, plus the fact that sins and warriors use scythes far better makes them a little useless.

Or why not just play both as your main? alternate your time between both?

Why not play both of them?
These are great classes.
Just pick one on random, and finish game with it first, build a few titles and do some PvP.
When you get little bored, just play with another.

I have 8 characters, and I like them all and play with all of them (although Warrior is my main character).

Necro. For the simple fact that they aren't a campaign specific profession thus have many more skills.

Well if thats the case then i'd say go for necro :P They are just far more flexible than derv's.

Go with the necro. Much more versatile character, not hard to get in groups. YOu can MM, Heal, Battery, SS, so many different types of roles where the derv is mainly a melee character

Not many ppl have a derv as their main..

it would be sth different.. but it would be something harder too =]
will you take the challenge?

go necro - more versatile, have more skills, more powerful for the most part, and better-looking armor (imo)

I have both and love to play them both but I would say like others, go with Necro. Easier to get into groups of any kind.

Female dervs are sexy. But necros are more useful in most places. Though if I wanted to kick the crap out of undead, I'd rather use a derv than a necro.

The only advice here is, choose the profession of which game style you are most comfortable with, if you choose anything else, you will get bored, period.

There are two types of players in GW, those who follow lines and those who play to enjoy.

Well, if you are a completionist I sure hope you got the Legendary Survivor title on both of them.

Between the two I'd go Necro for two reasons.

1) They have a larger variety of roles, builds, etc.
2) If you want to use a scythe just make a Warrior, they do it just as well but can do a ton of other stuff aswell.

Thank you for all the replies iam leaning towards necro because them seem to be more versatile and Taurean said choose the profession of which game style you are most comfortable with, if you choose anything else, you will get bored and while i enjoy them both i allways seem to get bored of melee characters for some reason =/

Hah, Dervishes can do some pretty cool stuff too. They're not the "best", but I'm still not sure why they get so much hate. I get pretty bored of casters, so I know how you feel when you say melees get boring.
